What is Danish oval?
You may have heard of the term Danish oval before, but you may still not exactly know what it means. The long side of a Danish oval dining table is curved, just like a standard oval dining table. The big difference is in the end sides. The ends are finished straight, creating two full seats. That allows you to place two extra chairs on the end sides!
Danish oval dining table 280 cm
A Danish oval dining table for 8 people naturally takes up a lot of space, but don’t think there’s only one size available for this job. The smallest size we recommend for 8 people is 280 cm. With this size you have enough space to place 8 dining chairs without it becoming cramped in terms of space. As mentioned, you can place chairs on the end sides of the Danish oval to expand the whole into a dining table for 10 people. As far as we’re concerned, a width of 120 or 130 cm is suitable to turn it into a beautiful piece of furniture.
Danish oval dining table 300 cm
If you’re looking for a little more space, you automatically end up with a tabletop of 3 meters. When composing your dining table, also consider the space at the end sides. Here, it’s possible to add chairs occasionally or permanently, but only if there’s room for it, of course. In terms of width, it’s advisable not to go too small. For example, choose a width of 140 or even 150 cm.
Danish oval dining table 320 cm
In our opinion, the largest size that qualifies for a dining table for 8 people is 320 cm. In fact, with this size you can even place 5 dining chairs on the long side. This is only possible if you choose dining chairs without armrests, however. Did you know that in addition to the Danish oval, we have 3 other shapes for you that belong to the oval category? Discover our oval, semi-oval, and semicircle dining tables. These give you a good idea of all the possibilities. You can read more about the differences in the blog about the 4 oval shapes.
Small Danish oval dining table for 8 people
The smallest size we can offer for 8 people is 260 cm. We would like to urge you to opt for dining chairs without armrests because they won’t fit otherwise. PLEASE NOTE: our advice is based on chairs on the long sides. You can choose to add permanent chairs at the ends. In that case, the number of people you can host increases by 2.
Space behind your Danish oval dining table
It’s smart to not only to focus on the dimensions of your dining table, but on the space around it, too. This way you won't be faced with any surprises when your table is delivered. We recommend at least 70 cm between the edge of the table and the wall. This way you retain the option to walk behind the table without it becoming really crowded. Tip: when purchasing a new dining table, you may immediately think of oak. But did you know that we also sell Danish oval dining tables made of other materials?
