Sustainability at Table du Sud

A large stock of tables? That’s not how we work. Every customer is different, and with all the choices in shapes, materials, dimensions and bases, there are countless ways to create your table.

Keeping a large stock of furniture simply doesn’t make sense for us, and we fully support this approach. It means we never produce more than necessary, and no materials or craftsmanship go to waste in an overfilled warehouse.

The made-to-order principle is simple: we only start production once we receive your order. No rows of ready-made tables waiting for an owner, but a tabletop and base made especially for you. That’s how we create the custom-made furniture we love working on every day.

But we don’t stop there. Together with Trees for All, we plant two trees for every three tables sold: one in the Netherlands and one abroad. In this way, we contribute to the conservation and restoration of forests, greater biodiversity and better living conditions for local communities.

The sun as a source of energy. Making furniture requires energy, but fortunately we have a fairly large roof in Heeze and the occasional ray of sunshine. That’s why, in 2019, we installed around 800 solar panels on the roof of Table du Sud HQ. Two years later, another 400 panels were added to our second building.

Today, there are around 1,200 solar panels across Table du Sud. They allow us to generate part of the energy we use to make our furniture ourselves. This way, we put the sun to work for our own workshop in Heeze.

Every so often, we come across a fabric that we think has it all: a beautiful look, good quality and properties that really stand out. That’s why we’ve brought our favourites together in the Table’s Choice fabric collection: more than 300 carefully selected fabrics in a wide range of colours. So there’s something for everyone.

We look beyond colour and appearance. The quality of the fabric is just as important. The better the fabric, the longer you can enjoy your sofa or chair.

Each fabric is carefully tested for wear resistance and given a Martindale score. The higher the score, the better!

Finally, all Table’s Choice fabrics are 100% recyclable. Fun fact: some of our fabrics are made from 100% recycled PET bottles!
