Frequently asked questions about our side tables

What is a side table?

A side table, also known as a console table, is a slim piece often placed against a wall or the back of a sofa. It's both decorative and functional, adding that final touch to your interior.

What can I use a side table for?

Side tables are incredibly versatile. Use them purely for decoration, as extra storage, or to display a lamp, plant or a few photo frames. They're also perfect for keeping keys or small items within easy reach.

What's the difference between a side table and an end table?

Though often confused, there’s a difference. Side tables are generally larger and placed against walls or sofas. End tables are smaller, more mobile, and typically placed beside seating areas.

Will a side table match my interior style?

Definitely. At Table du Sud, you design your side table from scratch: choose the size, material, colour and finish. Whether your style is Japandi, industrial, modern, rustic or Scandinavian, your piece will blend in seamlessly. Want to experience the materials in person? Visit one of our showrooms, our team is ready to help.

How much does a side table cost?

We don’t hold stock or use middlemen. You’ll see the exact price as soon as you design your piece in our 2D configurator, fully tailored to your preferences.

How is the quality reflected in the side table?

We use only high-quality materials from trusted suppliers. In our own workshop, skilled craftsmen turn these into unique furniture with a keen eye for detail.

What is the delivery time for a side table?

The current delivery time is always shown on the product page. These times are regularly updated and reflect our actual planning.

Can I view the side table in real life first?

Absolutely. You’ll find our side tables and materials in all our showrooms. Configure your table in 2D beforehand or come and explore everything in person.

Sidetables

Combine practicality with design and buy a side table from Table du Sud! Are you planning to buy a side table? We’re here to inspire you and we’re happy to make your sidetable in our workshop. Read on. We have listed all the information for you.

Types of side tables

What exactly is a side table? The classic side table is rectangular and is usually placed against a wall. But did you know that a side table is also an ideal hall table, one where you can easily store your keys? You can also place a side table behind your sofa.

We have many different types of side tables in store for you, all of which you can compose yourself. The rectangular side table is of course an option, but we also have smaller, square side tables for you. These are ideal to put flowers on, but also to conveniently use as a mobile table that you place near the couch for some refreshments.

You also have a lot to choose from when it comes to colour. Choose a popular black side table or go for a combination of steel and the wood-look. While putting together your side table, you’ll discover all the possibilities.

Materials

Combining steel with wood to create a beautiful sidetable is one of our specialties. We are proud to be able to offer you multiple options. Is the wood-look your favorite? Then it’s good to know that you often have several options to choose from. Do you like a natural wood-look? Then go with lived oak. Lived oak means we leave the knots and cracks open for a natural effect. Would you like to know more about our materials? Read the pages about materials and oak.

For fans of sleeker, even wood, we have new oak in store. New oak means we do fill in the knots and cracks so that everything becomes nice and smooth. By the way, this freedom in adjustment not only applies to wood, but also to the steel frame. Before we start with the finish, we would like to hear about your wishes. Do you opt for the classic steel-look, or do you prefer a black or white powder coating? It's all possible at Table du Sud!

Shapes

During your orientation you’ll notice that we can make plenty of side tables for you, but did you know that you determine the shape yourself, as well? After you've found a side table that suits your taste, it's time to start the fine tuning. The dimensions of the sidetable are very important, as your new furniture must match the rest of the interior.

Fortunately, we offer many options to make this happen. Do you go with a rectangular side table that’s 1 meter in length, or do you go for a larger variant of 3m? We’re happy to make them for you, whatever the size. You’re also free to play with the height. Let us know your wishes and we’ll get to work in our workshop in Heeze. Tip: get started with measuring tape at home to discover the dimensions that your new side table should have. This way you know exactly what to expect and you won’t face any surprises.

Ordering your side table

Above you’ve already been able to read a bit about what to expect when ordering a side table. We like to work thoroughly so that you end up with a side table in front of you that makes you happy. That’s why we take you through the ordering process, so that everything is 100% clear.

Choose your side table

This is where it all starts, of course! Choose your favorite side table from the different designs and don't forget: this is the foundation. You can compose your side table completely yourself after you have made this choice.

Dimensions

The dimensions are very important. Everything is possible. Choose the length, width and height.

Finish

By this we mean the finish of the wood. Choose lived oak if you like to leave those natural knots and cracks in place. For fans of sleeker, even wood without cracks and knots, we have new oak.

Colour

The colour should of course match the rest of your furniture. It is therefore good to know that we have more than ten colours for you. Do you prefer black, white, walnut or something completely different? The choice is yours!

Frame finish

We can give the steel parts of your side table a different colour with a powder coating if you so wish. If you opt for the natural steel look, we’ll treat the frame with a clear coat. You can also choose white (RAL 9010) or black (RAL 9005) powder coating.

Interior styles and inspiration

Your new side table will become part of the rest of your interior. Maybe everything is going to be new, or maybe your new side table will be a welcome addition to your trusty interior. Either way, we’re happy to inspire you. Discover the different interior styles and all the tips that go with them. Tip: Scandinavian design, or better, the Scandinavian interior style, is currently one of the most popular styles.

Oh! An important one before you make any decisions: when choosing colours, also keep the light and its angles in mind. A hall table in a corridor without windows looks completely different than in a living room where sunlight has free rein.
