Which colour Scandinavian sofa suits you best?

In order to be able to give a good answer to this, it might be smart to focus more on the Scandinavian living style itself. Doing so, we immediately come across the colours that define this style. For example, we often see the somewhat lighter and soft colours such as white, beige and light grey in the Scandinavian style. You can also make full use of the pale pastel shades and soft pink.

If we’re going to project this on your (new) interior, it’s smart to take a number of factors into account. First of all, and that might be stating the obvious, it’s important to choose a colour that really makes you happy. When in doubt, it’s smart to look further. Don't make the decision until you are 100% sure.

Second, it’s recommended to look at the living room as a whole rather than focusing purely on your new sofa. For example, do you absolutely love a grey Scandinavian sofa? Make sure to check whether this colour also fits with the rest of your interior. Naturally, this also goes for more pronounced colours, such as salmon pink. Try to find the perfect balance for the best results.

Finally, light plays a big role when choosing a Scandinavian colour. Do you have a living room where sunlight has free play from several sides, or are you planning on placing your sofa in a relatively dark room? With lots of sunlight, a dark grey sofa can suddenly look a lot lighter and naturally it also goes the other way around. Tip: we also sell some beautiful rugs that you can combine beautifully with your new sofa.

What’s the best material for a Scandinavian sofa?

Wood, reed, jute, and rattan are the most popular materials in the Scandinavian living style. Now, it’s difficult to reflect these materials in your sofa, but if you look at the bigger picture you can certainly take it into account. For example, it’s quite possible to buy a leather Scandinavian sofa.

You may not immediately expect leather in this living style, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. For example, why not go with a leather colour that fits perfectly and place the accents in terms of material elsewhere. Then combine the purchase of your new sofa with the purchase of a coffee table or side table, allowing you to bring back that typical wood look! Would you like to know more about Table du Sud’s wood? What other furniture and accessories does a Scandinavian sofa go best with?

You can approach this question in two ways. First of all, it’s also smart to pay attention to the materials and colours here. As mentioned, we see a lot of wood in the Scandinavian world and that means that there are usually plenty of options to fill your living room. Don’t solely think of the 'usual suspects', such as the coffee table and side table, but also, for example, about a tv-cabinet or one or more wall shelves that you can compose at Table du Sud. Tip: are you really going for the complete picture? Consider a Scandinavian dining table. Certainly with our options in the field of self-assembly and with our wood in our mind, there’s a lot possible. In short, there are 1001 ways to compose your Scandinavian furniture!

What size Scandinavian sofa do I need?

This can be a tricky question to answer. If you’re going to restyle your living room and get rid of your old sofa, you’ll have a good foundation to work from, but when you’re decorating a new house, this can pose a difficult issue. In any case, it’s smart to get your tape measure out. Try to map everything out as well as you can, including the distances between the different pieces of furniture.

A second point that can provide some clarity is the average number of people you have in your living room. Do you and your family sit on the sofa(s) every day, or are you looking for a more compact Scandinavian sofa for just you and your partner?

It's good to know that anything is possible at Table du Sud. The pictures of our sofas really only show you the tip of the iceberg. All sofas can be adjusted in terms of size, colour and material. For example, we have relatively small 2-seater sofas in store for you, somewhat larger 3-seaters and 4-seaters, but also other shapes such as U-shaped sofas and corner sofas. In short, there’s always something that suits your specific wishes!
