Sustainable home: what exactly is it?
Is sustainability your number 1 priority? Then quickly read on!
We’re becoming increasingly aware of the environment. A sustainable home, or a sustainable house, is a wonderful goal to strive for, which can be done in dozens of ways. At Table du Sud, we also do everything in our power to produce as sustainably as possible.
In terms of sustainability, Table du Sud proves excellent in several areas. How? And in which ones? You can read all about it in this blog.
What is a sustainable home?
There are many opportunities in your home to reduce the pressure on the environment. The well-known examples of this are, for example, solar panels, wall insulation, a heat pump, and an electric car. It’s also smart to consider the environment during the furnishing of your home. For instance, think of the different materials you can get, the country of origin of your purchase and its lifespan.
When restyling your house or moving to a new home, the list of purchases quickly grows and that’s exactly when you have the opportunity to work sustainably.
Sustainable design
“You get what you paid for.” You’ve probably heard of this saying. A huge cliché, but there’s certainly truth to it. For example, the lifespan of a piece of furniture is very important. You can enjoy a Table du Sud dining table for a very long time, which means that you don't have to buy a new table in the meantime because it’s worn out.
In our own workshop we use, among other things, impressive quality oak, beautiful ceramics, marble, Fenix, and Suar tree trunks. These are all materials that keep you going for years!
Optimal protection
To extend the life of your table, we use a protective varnish in our workshop that ensures that your new purchase is maintenance-free for about 10 years. The formula of this lacquer is composed by a specialised company. In our workshop, we mix the lacquer ourselves time and again, so we can be sure that everything is right. That’s how we guarantee the quality of our dining tables!
The purpose of this varnish is to protect your table. Think of contact with our skin, for example. The fats in our skin pose a threat to the surface of your table. In addition, we also think it’s important that the colour of your new acquisition remains intact. That’s why it’s good to know that our protective lacquer has a UV component. This ensures that sunlight doesn’t discolour the tabletop.

Sometimes you have furniture that stands out even more in terms of sustainability than the other tables and chairs. At Table du Sud, that’s the Art in Return dining table. This table is partly made of waste wood, a beautiful combination of a striking design with sustainable material.

Sustainability 2.0
Do you think, like we do, that sustainability is very important? And is it essential for you when you’re buying new furniture? Then you’re probably curious about the ways in which we are sustainable. For example, read about our large stock of solar panels that provide us with energy.
In addition, we want to mention that we plant a tree for every three tables sold. And did you know that we work without (unnecessary) stock? That means we only get to work when we have received an order. This is called make to order. In short, we’re continuously looking for new ways to be sustainable!
