Tips for choosing a garden table

We are happy to help you!

Choosing a garden table can be easy, but it can also cause some headaches. What materials are out there? What about the influence of bad weather? What should I do maintenance-wise?

In this blog, we take a closer look at the million-dollar question: what should I pay attention to when buying a garden table?

Tip 1: choose a suitable material

Of course, your garden table must have the right appearance. In fact, we have three large groups of custom garden tables in store for you. Are you a fan of the wood look? Then you will certainly find our Iroko garden tables appealing. In addition, we ourselves are fans of ceramics (more on that later!) and as a compromise, we also have the Bastien

Tip 2: go for a specific garden table

Basically, we think it’s smart if you opt for a true garden table. The temptation can be great to place a regular dining table outside, but that's something we don’t recommend. The indoor tables are simply not suitable for outside use, and over time there’s a good chance that your table will both discolour and lose quality.

Tip 3: take the Dutch weather into consideration

Yes, the summers are getting warmer and more beautiful, but that’s not necessarily good news for our garden tables. Sun, rain, wind, hail, and snow: these will all influence your garden table. We use natural products to manufacture our furniture and the thing about natural products is that they can warp over time. So don't leave your garden table outside in the rain all autumn and winter, but opt for a table sheet or place your table in a dry place. This way you can enjoy your purchase much longer!

Tip 4: opt for good maintenance

Always make sure you remove or treat any stains immediately! This prevents the stains from seeping into the tabletop, which can leave permanent discolouration. Did you know that we also sell suitable maintenance products at Table du Sud? These products are available for each material so you can keep your table in tip-top condition.

Tip 5: consider ceramics

At Table du Sud, we are huge fans of ceramics for garden furniture. This material has the appearance of marble and has a lot more to offer. For example, a ceramic tabletop is scratch-resistant and can withstand heat exceptionally well. This means you don't have to use coasters at all. That makes this material extremely suitable for families with children! For example, check out our oval ceramic garden table Gap or our round ceramic garden table Arlette

Tip 6: think in possibilities

At Table du Sud, you always buy custom work from our own workshop. We manufacture the garden tables by ourselves in our workshop in Heeze, near Eindhoven. The pictured garden tables give a solid indication of the possibilities. We always have several sizes, colours, and potential details in store for you, which enables you to ensure your new addition matches your taste perfectly. Want to know more? Then read the frequently asked questions about our workshop.
