Dining tables for small spaces
Go for beautiful efficiency
Do you have relatively little space for a dining table? No worries! Less space doesn't mean you should ignore Table du Sud’s tables.
With a mix of creativity, the right shape, and some spatial awareness, you’ll eventually arrive at the best options for your dining room or kitchen. In this blog we’ll take a closer look at all our possibilities.
Preparation
To get a good idea of all the options, it’s smart to get ready with a tape measure first. Is your dining room mostly square, or is it more elongated? And is there enough (potential) space between a countertop and dining table to walk between? Try to ask yourself these kinds of questions, so that you can get a good mental image of your situation. Tip: are you planning to place your dining table as close to the wall as possible? Then calculate at least 80 cm for that gap. This way you ensure you have enough walking space.
The shape is sacred
The shape of your new acquisition will determine whether it will be a success. In the case of a square dining room, or a shape close to it, a round table is perfect. With a round table, you create a cosy atmosphere as everyone can look at each other, but you also make optimal use of the space provided.
A round table shines in interiors with less space available. If you go for a round one, the size-question might arise more easily than with other shapes. It’s a very important question though, especially if efficiency is your goal. Do you know how many dining chairs you want to place at your table? Then you've already come a long way. In the blog: How many chairs at a table? we’ll show you which table sizes correspond to how many dining chairs.
Other shapes
Of course, placing a round table in a small space isn’t mandatory. Is your (smaller) space more elongated in shape? Then chances are that a rectangular dining table might be more up your alley. Do you have doubts about the shape, and do you feel that your space sits right between elongated and compact? Then take a look at the oval dining tables; it might just be your golden mean!
