Maintenance for leather and fabric sofas

Learn to clean and maintain properly: the approach.

When cleaning leather, use a clean, lint-free cloth. Treat a stain as soon as possible, usually a cloth with lukewarm water is sufficient. Never rub too hard in one spot, as this will lead to shiny stains and block the pores.

Dab damp spots as soon as possible with a tissue or paper towel. Leather is a natural product. This means that there may be minor deviations between your product and that of the furniture store models/samples.

These properties determine the natural character and charm of the different leathers. In authentic leather, the following errors can occur: insect bites, scars, neck folds, structure differences and colour differences. Wrinkles can also occur on the chair, or develop over time. This is due to the natural stretch and gives a certain stretch to prevent too much pressure on the stitching seams. These are natural properties of leather. To learn how to clean and properly maintain it takes little time.

We generally offer two types of leather:

1. Densely finished leather; Hermes, Toledo, and Vivente

Semi-aniline leather, for intensive use. This leather is treated with a protective layer and a print, very suitable for intensive use and very easy to maintain.
We recommend the care product Leather protection set from Oranje B.V. for this type of leather.

2. Open leather; Antigo, Africa

No dyes are applied to the surface of these types of leather. This gives the leather a more natural look. Colour differences are bigger and "mistakes" (read insect bites, scars and spots) are more visible. Parts stitched together can have colour and structure differences. This is a character trait that's integral to the type of leather and therefore the end product. This is accentuated even more with use. Please note that the open structure increases the risk of stains with intensive use (e.g. with children and pets). These types of leather can be injected with Leather/textile protector from Oranje B.V. (always read the instructions for use first).

Fabric/Leather look

We process different types of fabrics and leather-look. These are of a high quality. This is reflected in the areas of wear resistance (Martindale test) and light fastness. First, make sure there's no dust on the upholstery. Use a clean lint-free cloth. Treat the stain as soon as possible. Dab with a tissue or paper towel, scoop larger quantities with a spoon, let dry and usually cleaning after with lukewarm water is sufficient. Do not rub in one spot for too long to prevent damage and pilling. Are you interested in one of our maintenance products?
