What is urban?

To start with the basics: urban stands for everything city. Of course, this doesn’t mean that you can only create this living style in a city, it’s just as viable in a village. In fact, urban can be described as a mix of different styles and elements that may look or feel opposite to each other!

A typical urban interior has a sturdy appearance, combined with elegant elements. Many things are mixed within this style. Consider, for example, different materials. This way you can easily combine steel elements with wood, etc. You can also choose to mix living styles within your urban interior. A good example is the combo of industrial and botanical elements. In practice? Take a concrete dining table with several plants on top of it! Or an old floor on which you place new furniture!

Urban colours

If we take a closer look at the possible colours within the urban living style, we notice that there are no real ‘typical’ urban colours. That’s because many elements are mixed, meaning this living style transcends colours. A concrete-look dining table in combination with lots of greenery can easily be placed in an urban interior, but this applies to a dining table with a robust, steel frame and an elegant sofa with a luxurious fabric just as well!

If we really want to associate some colours to the urban living style, we can talk about black, white, and grey, foundationally. However, urban is not a colourless living style, on the contrary! The furniture often employs shades of green, blue, and yellow, meaning we go back to the beginning… that the typical urban colour… doesn’t exist!
