What is an industrial interior?

You may already be fully aware of all the ins and outs, but for those people for whom this term does not immediately ring a bell, we would like to explain what exactly this style of home is. Many people quickly think of factories, workshops and companies when they hear "industrial". But what exactly is it?

The industrial living style is known for sleek interiors without too much fuss. By this we mean that there is little 'superfluous' furniture and accessories to be found within an industrial interior. We often see straight lines and a fairly tight colour palette. This means that the entire interior consists of a few colours rather than all the colours of the rainbow, to put it in the extreme. Industrial elements can enhance the living style within your interior. Think out of an old-fashioned locker or a ceiling where you can see the pipes running.

Industrial materials

Robust materials traditionally do well within industrial living rooms and kitchens. Steel, for example, is a perfect example of a material that 100% matches this style of living. The advantage of steel is that you can use it in different ways. Think, for example, of a beautiful pivot door. Of course, you also have the option of incorporating steel in the furniture. If we zoom in a little further on this style of living, we come to the different colours that go well with it. It will come as no surprise to you that black is a colour that feels like a fish out of water within the industrial spectrum. We also see a lot of white, brown and grey tones that come up when we take a closer look at different industrial interiors. Here you can clearly see that there is indeed a link with old factories and workshops, as these are pre-eminently the colours that were and are used there. By the way, this is not a colour palette you necessarily have to stick to in order to satisfy the label 'industrial'. For example, you can also bring back green by placing some large plants.
