In our own workshop in Heeze we’re buzzing around, day in and day out. Creating dining tables remains our specialty, but you have also come to the right place for separate tabletops and frames. The advantage of having our own professionals is that we can work efficiently with the best materials. Are you planning to buy a separate tabletop? Then read on quickly! We have collected all relevant information on this page.
Types of oak tabletops
Working with oak never gets old. Did you know that we use different types of oak for our tabletops? If you’re about to purchase a tabletop, it might be smart to see which type suits you best. We have collected them for you below.
Lived oak tabletops
Go with lived oak if you’re looking for a tabletop with a natural look. With lived oak, we don’t do anything to change the structure of the wood. This means we leave any cracks and knots be, just like nature intended.
New oak tabletops
New oak is the golden mean when it comes to oak wood. New oak does have knots and cracks in the wood, but these are filled up for you. You can either choose black or the colour of the wood for this filling.
Refined oak tabletops
Refined oak is created especially for fans of super-sleek tabletops. These are specifically selected planks that contain as few knots and cracks as possible. We try to keep the knots to a minimum. We cannot guarantee that the wood doesn’t contain any knots at all, as we work with a natural product. Tip: would you like more information? Read all about our oak wood.
Suar tree trunk
Suar logs come straight from Indonesia and each one is unique. At Table du Sud you can choose your own specific top, either in our workshop or online. This way you can exactly see which tabletop you’re getting.
All shapes
Once you've chosen the material, it's time to focus on the shape. You can find all the popular shapes at Table du Sud!
Round tabletops
You determine the diameter yourself with a round tabletop. There’s also the option of choosing a different thickness. We offer 4, 5 and 6 cm as our options. Tip: we also have round Suar tabletops available.
Rectangular tabletops
The classic shape. Of course you also determine the length, width and thickness of the top yourself.
Standard oval tabletops
The oval shape is and remains popular. With this counterpart to a table with hard lines, you opt for an efficient use of your space as well as for an original shape. Is the classic oval just not your thing? Then it’s good to know that we also have other variants of oval in store for you.
Danish oval
This shape saw the light of day in our own workshop and has immediately grown into one of our stars. With Danish oval, the end sides are straight, meaning you automatically create an extra, full-sized seat.
Semi-oval
A rectangular table that’s still oval. If that's your goal, you'll find exactly what you're looking for in half oval. Discover the subtle lines and who knows, you may have found your new shape!
Semicircle
With a semicircle, the tabletop is straight with a, you guessed it, semicircle at the end sides. Would you like to know more about our oval shapes? Then read our blog about the 4 oval shapes.
Different colours
You determine the specifications of your tabletop yourself, and that naturally includes the colour. The wood look is and remains popular–a truly solid option–but did you know that we also have more than ten different colours for you? This way you’re always able to choose a colour that matches perfectly with the rest of your interior–and with your taste, of course!
Edge finishing
With a number of tabletops it’s possible to choose from different types of edge finish. In addition to the standard straight edge, we have a 20-degree finish and a facet edge. With a facet edge, the top 12 mm of the edge slopes downwards normally. The remaining part runs 60 degrees inwards.
