What is Japandi exactly?

Perhaps the name Japandi doesn't immediately ring a bell. Or did you think of ‘Japan’ right away? If so, that's a good first thought! Japandi is a mix between Japanese and Scandinavian styles. This sounds like a strange combination, but in practice these two complement each other really well. Japandi makes extensive use of minimalism, natural materials, and relaxing elements. Would you like to know more about this special living style? Then read all about Japandi for inspiration.

Natural materials

When it comes to natural materials, there’s many directions to go in. At Table du Sud, we work with many different materials, which means there’s always an option available to give your interior that boost. In addition, you should think in terms of possibilities. A good example is oak wood. Many people immediately think of oak having that typical brown wood colour, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. In our workshop in Heeze, Brabant, we like to experiment with different colours and designs. This way you can compose an oak coffee table in more than ten colours! In addition, the structure of the wood provides a typical appearance. Are you looking for the most natural look? Then we advise you to choose lived oak. With lived oak, we simply leave knots and cracks be. Read all information about oak and discover which variants we have for you.

Organic shapes

Organic shapes are very popular. Of course, we still see traditional shapes such as round and rectangular in our interiors, but less traditional shapes are slowly gaining ground. An organic shape is another word for a natural shape. Think, for example, of a drop of water. At Table du Sud we’re absolutely in love with the pebble shape. This shape is perfect for dining tables, but also for coffee tables. How about coffee table Liv, for example? Of course we also have sets in store for you, like coffee table set Gabri!

In addition, we recommend you also take a close look at your future sofa with your new living style in mind. A corner sofa naturally comes with a corner, but there are indeed sofas whose lines are anything but straight, meaning they fit perfectly within the Japandi living style. Sofa Melle is one such example. Good to know: our pictured images merely give you an indication of how it could look, but literally every sofa is for sale in different fabrics, materials, and configurations.

Colour use

Don't underestimate the colours of your new furniture and accessories! They ensure mutual harmony and have a massive impact on the overall appearance. Soothing colours do well in Japandi. Think of beige, light brown, and variants of white. Of course you shouldn’t feel forced to go with any of these. Follow your gut and just apply colours such as ochre yellow and dark green if you see it work for you. Do you find it difficult to imagine the whole picture? Do you hesitate between a number of colours? Or would you like appropriate advice to make your final decisions? Then you’re very welcome in one of our showrooms in Heeze, Utrecht, Rotterdam or Deventer! Experienced experts are ready to help you here. This way you can cut the cords with a good feeling and realise your Japandi interior!
