Iroko wooden garden tables from Table du Sud

We use iroko to manufacture our garden tables. Iroko is an African hardwood perfect for making impressive quality furniture. This type of wood is best known for its durability. In addition, iroko furniture takes on a somewhat lighter colour after a while. This is due to the influence of the sun. Due to the influences of our climate, the wood can start to warp. For example, minute cracks can occur–fortunately they don’t affect the quality of the wood.

Cleaning the wood

It will only take you a minute every day to clean your garden table in spring and summertime. You don't have to buy any expensive cleaning products, as daily cleaning with a damp cloth is sufficient. Haven’t used your garden table for a few days? Then it’s still smart to wipe your table with a damp cloth from time to time. This prevents bacteria or other threats from binding to the wood. We also strongly advise against soaking the table with a high-pressure cleaner. Your table does indeed look cleaner after the spray, but the force of the water can cause the structure of the wood to become affected. This can make the wood susceptible to algae and fungi.

Stubborn stains

Found a stubborn stain that won't budge, despite using a damp cloth? In that case, we recommend using something abrasive. We do ask you to pay close attention while using the abrasive, as well as to rinse the furniture thoroughly afterwards. In addition, avoid the use of steel wool, steel brushes, chlorine, and corrosive cleaning agents.

Maintenance in autumn and winter

Uhm… maintenance in the coldest months of the year? Well, some, yes! We ask you to think carefully about the location of your wooden garden furniture during the winter. Iroko is a very strong type of wood, but it simply cannot withstand rain, snow, and wind for the duration of several months. This applies to all materials. That’s why it’s smart to place your garden furniture under a shelter and use a table cover, for example. Do you have the option to put your table in the shed or store it somewhere else? Please do so! This greatly helps with the table’s lifespan. Pay attention to the humidity of the room to prevent algae and fungi. Tip: we have suitable maintenance products for all possible materials for you. Last tip: be sure to check our ceramic garden tables as well. Ceramics are also very suitable for making beautiful garden furniture!
