Fabrics
Our chairs and sofas are available in different fabrics. Each type of fabric has its own characteristics.
Broadly speaking, we make a distinction between textile and microfibre furniture (L60). The latter is a combination of 60% leather with microfibre. It has the look of sanded leather, but feels smooth and soft.

Microfibre
Microfiber fabric is woven or knitted from extremely thin fibers that often make it look like sanded leather/suede. These fibers absorb little to no moisture, making it less likely to absorb stains and make it easy to clean. A big advantage of a microfibre fabric compared to leather is that it is cheaper. But they are also much easier to clean than open leathers, because it absorbs less dirt. Although microfibre often resembles leather, we do not call it artificial leather, because it breathes well and therefore feels pleasant, these fabrics also fall better than artificial leather and therefore, unlike artificial leather, they are well suited for sofas.
Artificial leather
Artificial leather with a PU (polyurethane) top layer is closed so that nothing can penetrate and it is very easy to clean. A disadvantage of a PU top layer is that the artificial leather no longer breathes, so it quickly feels sweaty. Artificial leather is very inelastic, so you would think that it would wrinkle less, but once it is stretched it does not retract well, so that artificial leather often has a lot of folds. Although this is usually not a problem on a dining room chair or hard sofa, artificial leather will fall much less nicely on a soft sofa. Microfibre fabric also resembles leather and is a good alternative.
Onderhoud & tips
If you have bought a new sofa or new chairs, you naturally want them to remain beautiful for as long as possible. In general, the advice is to use a soft, clean cloth immediately in case of stains. Do not rub with it, but dab on the stain. If you have tampered with a solid substance, remove it with a spoon so that you damage the substance as little as possible. You can also vacuum the furniture on the lowest setting with the widest nozzle. By using a wide nozzle, the fabric is not drawn into the rod and does not damage it. It also reduces wrinkles, folds and pilling. Always go with the grain of the fabric.
Care Kit
For longer-term maintenance, use the Textile Care Kit on textile furniture. This set keeps new fabric furniture in top condition and provides extra protection. The set can be used on synthetic and natural fabrics. It is advisable to check the treated textiles annually for correct functioning of the protective layer with a drop of water. If in doubt, always treat the furniture afterwards.
With microfibre (L60), the leather is completely impregnated and easy to maintain. We recommend using the Microfibre Care Kit every year for the maintenance of this material.
Both sets are available in our webshop.

Other tips
1. Do not place your furniture in direct sunlight or daylight. This reduces the risk of discoloration.
2. We advise you not to let pets on your fabric furniture, as they can damage the furniture with their nails.
3. Pets can also increase the chances of pilling. Due to the contact of their greasy fur with the upright fibers of the fabric, the fabric itself also becomes greasy and therefore extra prone to attracting dust, hair and other fibers. This friction causes pilling.
4. Good humidity (between 50% and 60%) reduces the chance of pilling. The fabric of the furniture does not become static. This is especially important in winter.
5. To prevent pilling as much as possible, it is wise not to place too many pillows and plaids on your furniture. Especially woolly pillows and fleece throws can increase the chance of pilling.
6. Denim gives off dyes, even if they have been washed often. This is especially the case with dark jeans. Heat, friction and moisture can discolour (certainly light) fabric furniture.
7. Prevent damage from aggressive cleaning agents. Use the recommended products. In case of stains, do not rub the spot, but dab it with a clean, soft cloth. You remove solid substances with a spoon.
8. If your furniture has loose cushions, change the cushions regularly. With fixed cushions, do not always use the same seat on the sofa, but alternate. This prevents the fillings from becoming softer.
