In mid-2025, to celebrate our ten-year anniversary, we organised a Design Contest. Our followers were given the chance to truly leave their mark on our collection by designing a unique dining table.

Out of more than 350 entries, ‘Oos’ by Marjolein Garritsen emerged as the winning design. On this page, you can discover everything about the design.

Interior designer impresses both the jury and the public with Oos

That Marjolein Garritsen managed to impress both the professional jury and the public with her entry for the Design Contest came as no surprise. The owner of Studio Garritsen began her career studying Architecture, followed by a foundation degree in Spatial Design and a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design at the former Jan des Bouvrie Academy.

It’s safe to say that Marjolein has an exceptional eye for trends and interiors. After gaining fifteen years of experience at renowned architectural firms, it was time for the next step: founding Studio Garritsen.

From concept to winner

1. Sketching

Just like all the other participants, Marjolein began with a sketch of her design. “...A table with character, without being overbearing”, that was her mission.

2. Matching

One of Table du Sud’s requirements was that the winning design had to align well with the available materials and the capabilities of the workshop. And Marjolein succeeded!

3. The jury

She managed to impress the jury with her design Oos and wins the Design Contest.

4. Product drawings

Now the fine-tuning can begin. All possible variants are being developed, ultimately resulting in several options: oak and Fenix unicolor.

5. Production

The design is now being produced in our workshop in Heeze.

7. We're live!

The tables are available for everyone. They were launched during a beautiful event and now officially form part of our collection, both online and in all our stores.

The Collaboration

The collaboration with Marjolein is truly one of a kind. In the past, several partnerships came about because we were inspired by a designer and saw opportunities for a special collaboration. What makes this partnership with Marjolein unique is that she herself initiated it, she was the one who brought us together. Her distinctive Oos dining table first impressed an experienced panel of judges and later went on to win over the public as well.

"I wanted to design a table with a subtle look. Round shapes interspersed with vertical lines make this a table you want to keep looking at. This makes the table look different from every angle. A table with character, without being obtrusive.", with this in mind, Marjolein designed her dining table.

The Oos base forms the foundation of the collection that emerged from the Design Contest. As you’ve come to expect from us, you have complete freedom to customize this table exactly to your liking. We don’t keep stock: production of your dining table only begins after your purchase.
