This way you know for sure that you’ll buy an absolute star!

What is a lounge sofa?

Lounge is an English word and stands for relaxed, among other things. It should therefore come as no surprise that a lounge sofa is ideal for a movie night, a Sunday afternoon Netflix or for a cosy night with a good book. But what does such a sofa actually look like?

The lounge sofa is in fact a normal straight sofa with the characteristic that 1 side features an extended part on which you can lie down. This is also called the lounge part and has a lot in common with a chaise longue. However, a chaise longue is a single sofa, while a lounge sofa is suitable for several people.

Types of lounge sofa

At Table du Sud we always deliver custom work and that isn’t any different when it comes to our sofas. That means you are the director of your new purchase! There are countless possibilities, so you have enough options to perfectly match your new lounge sofa with your taste and living style.

2-seater lounge sofa

This is the classic variant of a lounge sofa. Two spacious seats, one of which forms the lounge area. A wonderfully comfortable sofa where you can recover well from your working day(s). Who gets the lounge spot at your home?

3- and 4-seater lounge sofas

As mentioned, you have complete freedom when it comes to composing your new sofa at Table du Sud. This also goes for determining the dimensions! If you have a somewhat larger family, or if you’d like to create more seats in your living room, it is smart to opt for a large lounge sofa. In that case, go with a 3- or 4-seater lounge sofa.

Lounge sofa with a corner

This is more or less a rather deluxe variant of a corner sofa. Think of a normal corner sofa with an extra lounge area. This large sofa has a lot in store for you. Due to its lounge area, this sofa tends to resemble a U-shaped sofa.

Benefits of a lounge sofa

Perhaps you’re looking for a sofa and are mainly in doubt between a 2-, 3- or 4-seater without having considered a lounge sofa. Nevertheless, a lounge sofa is certainly worth considering because of the advantages that this sofa brings along. The first advantage is of course the lounge area. This lovely spot will instantly become your favourite part of your new couch, even after just having spent one evening on it.

This lounge area can also function as an extra seat (without backrest) if you’re having a chat with family or friends. In addition, a lounge sofa can help create more peace, especially in smaller spaces. For instance, hockers, ottomans and several other accessories can easily give a crowded feeling. With a lounge sofa you opt for a beautiful all-in-1 solution.

Different materials

You’ve figured it out! Your sofa is going to be a relaxing lounge sofa. Still, some decisions remain regarding material and colour. In terms of material, Table du Sud offers an incredible number of options. Choose from different types of leather and beautiful fabrics. On our page about leather sofas, we have collected additional information about our leather. In addition, we have many different fabrics in store for you. Our showroom employees are happy to introduce you to all the fabric samples so that you are well-equipped to make the right choice. Tip: order the Table du Sud color and fabric samples. This way you can look at (and feel!) which fabric suits you best from the comfort of your own home.

All colours of the rainbow

You’ve checked the boxes on both the type of sofa as well as the material. You can almost feel that new sofa by now! However, one big decision remains. It’s time to choose the right colour! A decision that might not be that easy. Because how can you be sure of the perfect colour for your sofa? To maximise the chance of success, it’s smart to take a number of factors into account. We’re happy to help you make an informed choice.

Are you going to replace your old sofa? Then the colour of that sofa can form a solid basis in your search for colour. The old sofa probably fits well within your current living style, meaning a variant of your current colour could very well be an appropriate choice for your new sofa.

If you're moving into a new home or giving your living room a complete makeover, it can be a bit more difficult to choose the right colour. Try to match the new colour as closely as possible with the colours of your other furniture and accessories so that everything forms one beautiful whole.

The incidence of light also plays an important role. Will you put your lounge sofa in a room where sunlight has free rein? Then there’s a good chance that a relatively dark grey sofa will appear a lot lighter. Naturally, it also works the other way around. A light green sofa can suddenly take on a dark appearance in a moderately/badly lit room. Keep this in mind when picking a colour, so you won't be faced with any possible surprises when your furniture arrives home.

Be inspired

Planning on refreshing your living room? Then some extra inspiration will never not be useful. The different living styles always form a good basis. For example, do you prefer an industrial or rural style? We have taken the time to list all living styles for you. Discover which style and accompanying furniture suits you!
