For new-build homes (low-energy or passive houses) or apartments, we recommend a more powerful humidifier. In these cases, the room size should be doubled when calculating capacity. This is due to the continuous air exchange: cold, dry outdoor air is warmed and brought indoors. The moisture generated by people, pets, furniture, plants, cooking, showering and so on is quickly carried outside through this constant airflow. The result is often extremely dry indoor air. In this respect, controlled ventilation systems work much like open windows.

Wood is a natural material that continuously responds to its surroundings. Fluctuations in temperature and humidity can cause the wood to expand or contract. When the air indoors becomes too dry, this may lead to drying cracks or fine hairline cracks in the wood.

To prevent this as much as possible, a stable humidity level is essential. We recommend maintaining indoor humidity between 50% and 60%, the ideal range for keeping wooden furniture in excellent condition.

A powerful humidifier helps to actively monitor and regulate this level.
