Choose environmentally friendly fabrics from Table du Sud
Discover everything about Mango & Berry
Sustainability, the smallest possible ecological footprint, and local production. These are terms that we all find increasingly important and we’re looking for ways to reduce the pressure on our environment more and more.
At Table du Sud, we’re constantly looking for ways to produce even more sustainably. In this blog, we focus on the Mango & Berry fabrics. These are two fabrics with a very special story.
Upcycled fibres
Yes… yes, that all sounds wonderful, of course, but what does it actually mean? Upcycling is the process in which a discarded object is given a second life and thus a new function. In the case of Mango & Berry, this means that, among others, PET bottles are used in the production.
This also works both ways, by the way. The fabrics are made from PET bottles, but that doesn’t mean that’s the end station. Mango & Berry are 100% recyclable!
No water used, still a quality mark
Of course, making fabrics involves more than collecting old PET bottles. The processes that are set in motion to make the substances also cost energy. However, Mango & Berry really catch the eye here, too. Cultivating fibres usually requires a lot of water, as do the dye processes. However, completing processes without using water has been successful! This has resulted in the Oekotex label.
Removing stains
After reading the above information, you may think that you’re dealing with vulnerable substances with Mango & Berry, but nothing could be further from the truth. A stain is easily made, but you can remove it just as quickly. You can consider a number of factors to keep your sofa and/or dining chair in perfect condition.
It’s especially important to get started quickly if a stain has developed. First, remove excess dirt with some kitchen paper. Use the least aggressive cleaning agent you have and only use a more aggressive one if the stain really doesn’t budge. Keep a piece of your cloth dry so you can immediately remove any excess liquid after wiping.
Compose your own sustainable furniture
At Table du Sud everything is customised, which means you can have Mango or Berry appear on many pieces of furniture. Think, for example, of the upholstery of your corner sofa or dining chairs, but also of that robust lounge chair or that convenient 2-seater.
